The Winning Horse Takes The Roses, But The Winning Trainer Gets This Kentucky Derby Edition Ram 2500!

The Winning Horse Takes The Roses, But The Winning Trainer Gets This Kentucky Derby Edition Ram 2500!

In a couple of days, one of Kentucky’s biggest contributions to society will take place at Churchill Downs in Louisville. On May 6, twenty horses will take to the one-and-a-quarter mile track as the mint juleps flow and the derby pie (chocolate, walnuts, pie, and a trademark lawsuit if you overstep your boundaries) will be eaten as the strange high-society culture of the Kentucky Derby takes place. Normally, what we care about the Derby involves the odds on the horses and that’s about it. But this year, there is a special prize going to the trainer of the winning horse: a 2017 Ram 2500 Limited Kentucky Derby Edition.

Yes, that’s right, Ram went to the trouble of making one single Kentucky Derby Edition truck. It’s a Cummins/automatic rig, painted Brilliant Black with blue Kentucky Derby graphics on the rear flanks and a handpainted rose badge on the grille. But why go to these lengths? “Ram trucks are the perfect match for horse owners, trainers and riders, and partnering with America’s premiere racing events is a great way to demonstrate our commitment to these customers,” according to Mike Manley, the head of Ram. “With the longest-lasting pickup trucks on the market and class-leading capabilities, Ram trucks are well-deserving of the ‘Official Truck of Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby’ status.”

We gotta admit, the truck looks sharp and we wouldn’t shut down a Cummins-powered Ram…what do you think?
