Private Mack Attack: An Awesome Look at a Private Collection of Ancient Mack Trucks

Private Mack Attack: An Awesome Look at a Private Collection of Ancient Mack Trucks

(Photos by Greg Rourke) – It is always cool when one of our contributors shoots an email in saying, “I’m not sure if you want to use these photos but…” because it is always a neat story. Case in point, this quick collection of classic and very old Mack trucks that photo ace Greg Rourke stumbled upon in Illinois. The small family collection contains several trucks from the chain drive era, a giant yellow machine that has an engine that we can’t make heads of tales of, and a coal truck the likes of which we have never seen before.

This isn’t a massive collection housed in an ornate facility. This is a cool group of killer old trucks in a barn, which is virtual perfection in our eyes. From the pre-WW1 chain drivers to the iconic B-Model to the 1967 R-Model, if you love old trucks and Macks especially, this group is a little slice of heaven in Illinois.

Hit the link below to see a quick gallery of trucks that lived through the rigors of their working lives to rest peacefully in Illinois!

Mack trucks have a loyal following, but they are rarely seen here on the West Coast. We have the Peterbilts and Kenworths as our gold standard.
