Bizarro Find: The Most Insane Custom Show Truck Ever Built – We Can Only Ask Why?!

Bizarro Find: The Most Insane Custom Show Truck Ever Built – We Can Only Ask Why?!

A tip from intrepid BangShift reader Ed Hohenberg led us to look at, ponder, verp a little, and then post this 1970 GMC custom truck currently listed on Hemmings for sale. For the low, low price of $4,900 smackers you could be rolling around in this custom built show truck that appears to be rotting a lot and has to be close to breaking in half…or thirds. What would possess someone to take a cool 1970 Suburban, mess with it, and then bolt a weirdo stretched bed with an additional three axles under it onto the back? Hopefully you can tell us because as best we know, there aren’t drugs available that are strong enough to cause a person to start this project and then actually finish it. Everything about this truck would be bad. Turning? Bad. Stopping? Bad. Acceleration with a bone stock 350? Bad. Comfort? When you see the interior you’ll settle on BAD.

It just makes absolutely no sense to us. None. Are we missing something here or is our opinion in line with yours?

SCROLL DOWN TO SEE MORE PHOTOS AND THEN CLICK THE LINK TO SEE THE HEMMINGS AD….IF YOU DARE!

Looks more like a defective brake bias control than a custom. How many old ladies are lying dead on street corners when this “abortion” tries to make a sharp right?

I can see a sauna out the back packed with pretty girls and a bar behind the driver and a blower sitting up through the bonnet …………………..COOL AS!

that was built in the early 90s, made it to a few shows and had a mini feature in Sport Truck, im surprised its still around

That thing was built by Lockers body shop in Hamilton, Ohio. And is just as goofy as it was then! This guy built all kinds of goofy bikes and cars!

Looks like those stupid limos Ultra built in the ’80’s seen on Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous.

You want to see something cool watch this thing transfer from a down hill grade to a flat surface. You could drive under it.

My first thought was you could haul a race car and your whole crew with it. Then I realized the bed was too small, and there’s a fuel tank in it to boot.

” Built ” is to kind. “Cobbled” is more like it. Is that $4900 what they will pay somebody to take it away ?

The interesting part is that the rear wheel wells, rear frame kick up, trailing arm mount/crossmember and spring seats are all still intact. This really is just a matter of someone being brave enough to take on cutting off all the BS, hang a set of quarters and find another tailgate.

  9. Joe H,

My favorite is the fuel tank…or is it the seats that are turned/mounted slightly inward…

I thought I was a hack….this guy must be the same guy that “restored” my Fury in the 80’s.

I was a teen when Lockers built this. I used to live right across the street from the bodyshop back then. They eventually painted a trailer to match the truck. They actually towed it with the truck. And they also built a custom semi to match it also. They are still in business.

If this thing was slammed to 1/4″ off the ground, how many of y’all that say you don’t like it would think it’s super cool?
