Question of the Day: What Track in What Country Would You Most Like to Visit For a Race?

Last year’s Optima Batteries Face Off at Road America was a killer event and I am headed back this year for the 2013 version, at a track that is considered to be one of the most famed in road racing. I had never been to Road America other than stopping at the gate for Drag Week or Power Tour or something. So, when I got there and got to run around, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

Road America is often described as the National Park of Motor Racing or some such thing. They are right. It really does look like a State or National Park that happens to have a 4.1 mile road course running through it. It is crazy huge, absolutely beautiful, and a site to behold. The food there rules, the people are cool, and nowhere that I have ever been allows such a cool viewing experience. With tons of hills, grass, and trees, the areas that spectators sit are more like a park than a racetrack. Tents, EZ Ups, blankets, custom platforms in trucks, etc dot the area and allow for a killer viewing experience.

But Road America isn’t alone in its coolness. There are tons of “Bucket List” racetracks all over the world. I’m lucky enough to have raced at, announced at, or visited a ton of great race tracks that most people would kill to see. Although there are still plenty left though all over the world I have yet to see.

So, what country and what track would you most like to visit for a race?

    Monaco and the Nurburgring.
And I don’t know if it counts as a circuit but any big manufacturer proving grounds must be great.

Good thing the question was not restricted to 4 wheel vehicles.

Hands down, it would be the Isle of Man TT

    Pure 2 wheel madness.

Tierp Arena in the Motherland – Sweden. For that matter, any drag strip in Sweden such as Piteå Dragway or Sunsvall Raceway. The recent race at Tierp had 8 Top Fuel Dragsters, 6 Top Fuel Bikes, 10 Pro Stock Bikes, 12 Pro Stock entries and 25 Pro Mod cars!
