(Photos by Bryan McTaggart) – Here’s kind of a funny story. Last weekend when I was at the Mopar Nationals I got into town a little early. Because I am a drag dork of the highest order I decided to visit some drag strips that I had never been to before. I landed in Columbus, grabbed the rental beater, and set off south towards Cincinnati. On my way I kept seeing all kinds of cool old muscle cars, hot rods, and vintage trucks. Some of them were Chryslers so I started to get freaked out that the Mopar Nationals had somehow been cancelled and I missed the memo.
After a nervous phone call I was informed of my own stupidity and that the people I saw going south were all heading to the NSRA Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky. This is a show that has morphed and changed over the years. It was an age restricted street rod gathering for a long time and now it is far more open and inclusive and because of that the show is a monster.
