(Photos by BS forum member DragBike425) – The last gallery of 1980s pro street photos from the famous Street Machine Nationals in Du Quoin, Illinois was a big smash hit so we’re back for another dose of big tire, multi power-adder, fairgrounds cruising! As we said in the last blog item regarding these cars, they were far more flash than dash, but at the time there wasn’t a damned thing cooler on Earth. Chad openly weeps when he looks at these photos, tears of joy dripping off of his beard. I just smile like a nine year old because, well, I was nine years old or less when these photos were taken!
In this collection you’ll see Rick Dobbertin’s Nova (which still exists in EXACTLY the same shape you see here) along with his J2000, a couple of oddball Chrysler entries like a late 1970s Magnum and what looks to be a Dodge Aries that got the pro street treatment. Nothing was safe back then! Hit the link below to see the gallery and we’ll also link the first gallery for those of you that may have missed it. Remember, the Street Machine Nationals are coming back this summer! Stay tuned for more details on that!
Wow, Dobbertin’s blown, twice-hairdried J2000…that takes me back! Had a ton of these pics pinned up on my bedroom walls back then.
I was there about 4 years in a row. That place was crazy until the state troopers clamped down in around 1992(?)
