Junkyard Gallery: Gently Sleeping American Classics At Fleming’s Junkyard In New Jersey

(Photos by Joe Grippo) – This week, and we mean all this week, we’re going to be bringing you Joe Grippo’s ace photos from the 2013 Pumpkin Run Fleming’s Junkyard in Egg Harbor, New Jersey. This is an awesome show that brings in cars, trucks, tractor, big rigs, and every other damned thing you can think of for a big end of the season gathering of coolness. While we have shiny and running vehicles to showcase for the rest of the week, today we’re going to show you around the forest of old American cars resting at Fleming’s junkyard.

There is some seriously neat stuff in this place. Lots of it is more Earth than car by now, but there looks to be some stuff that could be saved or at least chunks of it could be saved and used in a project, restoration, rat rod, etc. The fall setting makes this look all that more dramatic with the falling leaves and neat color of the foliage in the ‘yard. You west coasters may think that this isn’t what a junkyard looks like but for us gearheads in the upper right hand quadrant of the country, this is how it looks to us. Your concrete slabbed, neatly organized, relatively sanitary conditions may as well be the lunar surface to guys like us who lay in the mud, sticks, and rocks to scavenge parts from old rotting cars.

This gallery is awesome and it is the first scratch of the surface of what Joe shot and what we will share this week!

Wow – really surprised how much glass was left compared to how bad of shape most of the cars were in…..I guess glass is the only thing that don’t rust in New England, ‘eh Brian? How much is the ’65 Impala convertable?
