With the 1980s vibe starting to come back into the world of hot rodding with a force, this pro street AMX is the ticket to coolville. The seller does not say when the car was built, but he does mention that is has been in storage for close to a decade and there are some clues like the wheels and paint that lead us to believe the machine was spawned in the late 1980s or early 1990s.
The car is powered by a 6-71 blown, 401ci AMC mill, which is totally awesome. It has disc brakes on all four cornes, Enderle fuel injection which is “set up” for methanol, a 727 Chrysler transmission and the mandatory Ed Quay Race Cars trunk wing. We think Ed Quay may have been able to retire on wing sales alone for a period of time there.
The car has a Dana 60 with Strange axles and four link out back. In another period touch, the car has lexan windows.
Knowing that there are lexan windows and that the fuel injection, which we are assuming is mechanical, is set up for alky, we’re guessing that this AMX was far more show queen than actual runner.
How bitchin’ would it be to pull this thing out of the mothballs, get it tuned up and running on gasoline, shine up the paint and the Centerlines, toss in a Kenny Loggins tape and lay patch all over town!
