It’s Day 3 of our series on the build of what we assume to be the only 4-cylinder Briggs and Stratton engine in the world. These guys have taken 4 Briggs engines, and chopped, cut, welded, machined, and stuffed them all back together to create one inline 4-Cylinder Briggs and Stratton engine that runs awesome. As I have said in the past two installments, I want one. A Go Kart or bitchin old Golf Cart would rule with one of these. And an Ecoboost Ford Turbo would be awesome on it as well.
Okay, time to stop dreaming. If you have been with us through this entire series, start watching videos 14-19 below.
If you have missed any of them, don’t worry, click the links below to start at the beginning and catch up. It’s well worth it, and will make you want to make something crazy like this.
so they made a flat head 4 cylinder engine.
Not many of them around…
As a kid back in the 60’s I always wondered if this would be possible [ along with wanting to create a flat 12 out of six model airplane glow plug flat two’s ] … and I guess I’m about to finally find out . Could some crazy kid back in the day have made himself his very own I4 out of Briggs & Stratton single cylinders ? Inquiring minds … at least mine is …. are waiting to see the results .
Even if it’s not you doing it there is something very satisfying about finding out you were right after all and not just some pie in the sky dreamer
Fingers crossed and here’s hoping !
Great family project. I’ve not managed to watch all of them but I’m assuming this is a Grandfather and Grandson team. Young Mikey has picked up some great skills there that will stand him well for the rest of his life, he looks justifiably proud in the last video.
Chad, respect for posting and seeing how great this, it’s great to see these guys working this out together. Life isn’t all about horsepower…..cant believe I just said that…..
Great engines, great project. In auto shop in school we had a bunch of these. Teacher was teaching about long term storage of the engines. Drain the gas, run it dry, then drain the oil. One team of two guys got tired of waiting for the can to drain the gas into, decided to drain the oil first, then drain the gas and run it dry. Teacher freaked when it sounded a bit loud… Actually didn’t hurt the Briggs at all. Two guys still passed the class…
Post #1 Don you totally miss the point
