As the lines between “race car” and street car” continue to move closer together and in come cases blur completely, we can’t help but get excited when we see new products introduced for race car applications primarily that we know will end up on the street. Such is the case with AFCO’s new brake pedal assemblies that the company has just released. These pieces were designed for the world of stock car racing and various classes like Street Stock, Modified, and Late Models but we can totally see them ending up in hardcore pro touring cars and even some drag racing cars for a couple of reasons. Firstly is weight. Constructed of aluminum, the whole assembly weighs in at 4lbs. Yeah, FOUR. Secondly, is the robust construction. These pedals were designed to be used in the harshest environments and as such, they will stand up to whatever your left foot can dish out. Thirdly? Looks. Hey, it would be foolhardy and completely blind to fail to recognize that lots of times guys add parts and pieces to their cars for aesthetic reasons and having a full race, hardcore set of pedals in your car is one of those things.
Adding to the fun is the fact that AFCO can basically now provide you a braking system from the pedal all the way to the wheels. With forward or reverse mount master cylinder positioning and incredible strength built-in, we’re not sure why you would go looking anywhere else for a pedal…but that is just us.
