Craigslist Pick of the Week: Vintage 1935 Dodge Jalopy Race car

With this week’s CraigsList pick we’re headed to the backwoods of Thomasville, North Carolina, where we have located a killer, near prehistoric 1935 Dodge jalopy racer. These are the cars that the circle track racers of today can thank for paving the way decades ago.

It doesn’t look like the years have been all that unkind to this Dodge. It definitely has some battle scars and there may not be a square inch of truly straight sheetmetal on the car, but at least it is complete and not completely riddled with rust.

It’s currently packing Chevy Stovebolt-6 power and a three-speed manual trans. While we understand what the owner was going for with the fiberglass Willys fenders that appear to be hastily affixed to the body, we don’t think they should stay there.

We don’t think the word restore fits here, but we certainly do think that this should be brought back into race condition (which was often quite rough in those days) and maybe turn a tire on a dirt oval again.

Click here to see the Car of Tomorrow just after it climbed out of the primordial ooze.
