Watch A 7-Second Aussie Ford Capri Barrel Roll Twice and Land on the Wheels at the Strip!

Watch A 7-Second Aussie Ford Capri Barrel Roll Twice and Land on the Wheels at the Strip!

There is no such thing as a “good” way to barrel roll your car down a drag strip, but this racer seems to pull it off with the least possible amount of damage to his car. According to the description on the video, this little Ford Capri is powered by a 588ci naturally aspirated Chevy rat motor has gone into the 7.70s (quarter mile) at more than 180mph. Everything looked to be OK until 330ft when the car makes a sudden move to the right and then heads to the left, launching itself over into a pair of complete rolls. The driver is reported to have gotten out of the car OK.

It is a wild wreck and thankfully the car lands on its wheels, making it easy for safety people to grab the driver and remove him, if that was necessary. It is pretty close to the wall on the driver’s side, but we’re pretty sure the guy didn’t waste any time getting out of that thing whatever way was necessary. The video stops before we see the driver climb out.

It is tough to tell from the angle, but the dude looked pretty close to the Camaro in the other lane. Thankfully, that car went right down broadway and away from the problem quickly. Yes the car is banged up, but from what we can see, it doesn’t look like the totaled out mess it could be for such a violent smash up!

That is definately crazy, especially considering how bad it could have been. Even crazier, the car’s a right hand drive, so the driver could’ve popped his belt and been thrown outta the car.

If you read the article before viewing the video the Ford Capri was powered by a 588 CHEVY engine.

one slight correction – its NOT near the wall on the drivers side – we sit on the right side of the car in Australia…
