Basic Brake Tech With Baer: How To Bleed Your Brakes

There are certain things that all hot rodders and gearheads just HAVE to know how to do, and how to do right. Bleeding brakes is one of those things. Unless you are rolling around in an ancient Model T or similar machine with mechanical brakes (and you’re in our prayers if you are) the vehicle you own and operate is equipped with hydraulic brakes. Chances are you’ll be replacing lines, maybe upgrading components, or perhaps just replacing some old seized up junk on that barn find you are rehabbing. Any and all of those situations will require you to bleed the brakes. Simply put, bleeding the brakes is a procedure whereby you remove any air which could be trapped in the brake lines, calipers, or wheel cylinders of your car or truck. Air in those places will result in a squishy pedal, reduced braking function, and ultimately it is unsafe.

The fine folks at Baer have provided a very basic and well written “how to” procedure for brake bleeding. While there are plenty of cool “one man” brake bleeding tools out there on the market today, we own none of them so bleeding operations at BS Eastern World HQ always require another humanoid to complete. The procedure outlined after the link is a two man situation as well.

Hit the link below and visit Baer’s site. Read up on the proper procedure for bleeding your brakes and then cruise their site and check out the killer braking systems they have for your car or truck. Baer has you covered from mild upgrades to full tilt drag race and pro touring systems!
