Brent Hajek: Racer, Farmer, Potential Reality Show Star

Brent Hajek: Racer, Farmer, Potential Reality Show Star

We’ve always thought of Brent Hajek as a human dynamo. Anyone capable of operating a massive farm, a car museum, an oil field operation, a racing team, and a trucking company is worthy of that title. He is a throw back to the ’60s era of maverick, live life at 200 mph guys that were the cornerstone of racing. We found a great profile on Brent that really sheds some light on the man and reinforces our belief that he would be a heck of a guy to hang out with.

The story we found ran on AgJournal.com and focuses on Hajek’s work to promote corn-based ethanol as a viable fuel source of cars and trucks. He is one of the leading spokespeople for that cause, and as the story notes, he was the keynote speaker at an international conference on the ethanol topic that was held last year.

Hajek’s fun side comes out in the story as well, especially when he mentions cutting wheat and how it seems that wheat cutting time on hs farm is also drinking time. Hell, the guy knows how many cases of beer come on a pallet. That says something in itself!

In recent years Hajek has gained fame through the exploits of his ethanol powered late model Mustangs. Mickey Thompson’s son Danny drove one of Brent’s cars to records at Bonneville, and Bill Elliot stuffed one into the wall while working to set a closed course speed record last year. The car has since been repaired, and according to the story, a 2011 model racer is in the final stages of construction.

Lastly we’d say that Hajek is no dummy and his acumen is not just business related. Farmers have always been thinkers to some degree, as they often have to solve their own pressing problems without the aid of others. Using that same mentality, Hajek has applied it to racing and the results are cars that haul ass while being really friendly to the environment through the use of innovative components and so-called “green” fuels.

When asked about his “farmer” status in the world of racing Hajek was quoted as saying, “They really like the idea that a farmer out in the middle of nowhere can come up with this stuff. Our team is bridging the gap between the scientists and the racers, and dragging farmers along for the ride.”

Oh yeah, according to the story, Hajek has been offered a reality show to cover the exploits of his busy life. We’d totally tune in.
