(Words and Photos by Tommy Lee Byrd) – The NSRA Street Rod Nationals South has been around for a long time and it’s generally held on the first weekend of May in Knoxville, Tennessee. It’s always a great event, with a couple thousand hot rods in attendance. Now that the NSRA has lifted its 1948 and older restriction, it has allowed the multitude of Tri-Five Chevy, muscle car and classic truck enthusiasts to take part in a great show.
We checked out this year’s Nats South on Friday, due to a near 100-percent chance of rain for Saturday. Lucky for us, it was sunny for most of the day, so we made our way around Chilhowee Park to see the swap meet, vendor area and car show. We saw many conventional street rods and took pictures of all the good stuff, but here’s a quick list of awesomeness you need to check out in the gallery: a Magnacharged LS-swapped Studebaker, a shorty sedan highboy thing with a Frankenstein four-cylinder fit with a small block Chevy cylinder head and a slick little Morris Minor with big tires and a lowdown stance.
