We were among the first to tell you about Tim Arfons’ project in recreating the front engined, wheel driven, turbine dragster that terrorized drag strips nearly 40 years ago. Now we’re going to be among the first to actually take you for a ride on the thing as Arfons has seen the project through to completion and just last weekend was making public runs with the machine at Ohio’s Quaker City dragway. Video has surfaced of Arfons making a test pass with the car after it was all painted up and ready to go. It sounds crazy, smokes the tires at will, and runs nearly 200mph with apparent ease. We’re interested to catch back up with Tim and see how fast he plans to go once the car is fully “broken in” so to speak. We’re also interested where he’ll be running so we can tell you where to see the machine in person. Both Chad and I are dying to get a first hand look at it and especially to see it run. Why? Pretty much because it is the only front engine turbine car in the world today. That and the history behind the original which inspired this recreation is so good!
Update: We were tipped off to a second video from outside the car, shot on the wall by Dawn Mazi-Hovsepian and it gives a bitchin’ perspective of what it is like to see this thing run. It is totally AWESOME!

I’m old enough to have seen both the Allison “Green Monster and the Ranger (with a cut down prop) “Boloney Slicer” run in the early 60’s they made great noise too
How cool does it get to once again see an Arfons behind the wheel of a green turbine/jet powered race car. Sweet.!!!!!
Again, AWESOME, really like the different spin on an already fast and light car. What a great family too, history, speed and the need to do things a little different is surely exciting.
I still remember watching Art run the allison green monster at Kil Kare drag strip in 1960 or 1961 with dual perk slicks on quite q show
This is actually at Quaker City Dragway in Salem, Ohio

Thanks for the great videos!
I saw the car last winter at the winter car show in Canton, OH and it’s a show car doubling as a race car doing both chores very well too.
