Chad is the resident Camaro expert and lover around here. I am pretty sure when he sees this thing, his heart will cry and then he will fly into a blind rage, smashing stuff around his house. Either that or he’ll hop on a plane to where this car is being sold with a plasma cutter and the determination to erase this creation from the face of the planet. Me? I think it needs to be “de-themed”, tubbed, and then hammered on like it owes me money.
The car looks like it was built professionally because it certainly is no hack job. The Vega wagon roof was grafted to the Camaro and almost looks like it was supposed to be there on some level. The flared front and rear fenders are retro enough to be cool when not painted like a circus car and hey, it has a blown big block in it so that’s a big check in the plus column. I think I would remove the interior with a flame thrower, especially all of the Las Vegas themed stuff in the “wagon” area of the Camaro. I need room to shove slicks in there for the drag strip and there’s just too much of an Elvis vibe happening for my taste. The fully functioning roulette wheel is a nice touch, though.
So the seller says that this car was built for the World of Wheels car show tour which I think means it was an ISCA featured machine. Does anyone remember seeing it displayed at an indoor show when you were a kid? The motor has a pair of Holley carbs on top of a 6-71 blower, a Crane hydraulic cam, Blackjack headers, and the transmission is a Turbo 400. The seller is looking for $36,500. Even if I skipped the tub job and just fixed the paint, interior, and stuck some 275 drag radials under it, this car would be an attention getter. Something tells me that Chad would still hate it though.
What do you think? Great idea that just needs to be “fixed” or wrongness on all levels?
Thanks to Jeff Lee for the tip!

Chad Note:
This is wrong. In every single way. This ruins not one car I love, but two. Yes, I said it, I love Camaros and Vega Wagons. There is nothing about this that should ever be done again…
With that said, and I will deny I ever wrote this, I would beat this thing like a redheaded step child and own it until they buried me in it! I hate it and love it all at the same time. I guess I love it, but hate the thought of how it came to be. Anyway, screw “de-theming” it. I would make sure there was some suspension under it that could take a beating, outfit it with some drag radials and get my drag week on in this bad boy.
This is a “Frankenturd”.
There’s a song by the greatest British band of the 80s, Bauhaus. It has the chorus “Wipe away my eyes I have seen too much”
So if you please excuse me I’m going to the bathroom with a sheet of very rough sandpaper so I never have to gaze on such a monstrosity again…
HOLY SHIT! Is that Bobby Hull on the glove compartment?
I remember seeing this in a World of wheels Magazine around 90 or 91.
I believe I still have the mag around here.
Boy I just can’t believe this thing hasn’t sold yet…
Aaarrrggghhh! Kill it with fire!
