Yep, ever single time you try to mount a tire using flammable liquid you are going to have an explosion. Danger will ensue. And parts failure, bodily harm, loss of hair, rapid heart rate, and excitement are all possibilities. This video is nothing but tires being mounted via the spray in a flammable liquid and light it on fire method of getting a tire to seat on the bead. The success levels vary, but overall they are successful.
This method for getting the bead to seat was pretty common for tires that were too narrow for the rim, really short sidewall stuff, and big truck tires.
As you watch the video you will see several different methods or styles. And if you have never done this before you will learn some tips and tricks to make it “safer” if you pay attention. We use air quotes on the word “safer” because there is nothing safe about this and we encourage you NOT to try this at home. Repeat, do not do this at home. If mounting the tire this way doesn’t kill you then your wife probably will.

I did commercial tires for 25 years (forklifts to Terex’s-giant tires at quarries), NEVER EVER tried this stupid way of beading a tire, never had a tire I couldn’t bead NOT doing this! Children, DON’T TRY THIS AT HOME!

I have mounted thousands of tires and never once used ether or any flammable liquid. Tire lube, or a Cheetah bead seater work well.
I’ll let the wife do it.

Ether is a strange drug and distorts reality and sometimes removes inhibitions. But no matter how wasted I was I would never ever try to mount a tyre as there are far better flesh and blood based alternatives when it comes to getting your jollies!
