If you missed our initial introduction to the YouTube series called The Skid Factory, let us bring you up to speed: it’s a Mighty Car Mods spin-off that skips out on the Japanese cars and the “MAAD” that tends to get grating after a bit, and instead brings in “Turbo Yoda” and Woody to put together builds. The first car is done: a 1970 Ford Fairlane that had it’s 302 cubic inch Ford and C4 automatic yanked out for a Toyota 1UZ 4.0L and turbocharger setup. The owner of the car wanted to have the car be decent for daily use and Toyota mills are all over the place Down Under. It’s easier to get parts for them as well, and as you’ll see, they can be tuned to deliver good power. So good, in fact, that you’ll see carnage before the Fairlane leaves the dyno rollers. In a move that brings back memories of Buford T. Justice’s dyno days, the Fairlane’s driveshaft becomes a wrecking ball after things go bad underneath the car. But things can be fixed and soon, the owner is doing the proper Aussie thing: repaving a section of roadway. Check out the final episode in this series and if you’re even a little bit interested, check out the remainder of the series…there’s really good work going on in this shop!
Can’t help but wonder. Did they ever build a two door car down under?
Easier to get the Sheila’s in the back with a more door.
Enjoyed watching this Aussie Fairlane build, I’m surprised that they didn’t put a Barra six with a turbo on it.
Hey look, I found a pretty cool lawnmower engine, let’s use that in our next build on some pos 4 door. Lots of money to make shit! Lots of money means it must be admired. Hey Aussies, you are in the land of the best Cleveland head in the world.
I hear that the old copper Crosley motors are hot down there. Of course, they always ran hot here too, and blew their gaskets. Tie me Kangaroo down, sport!
Yeah, well it sure beats putting a *yawn* LS in it
