The Story Of Finnegan’s Box Truck Continues! When A Working Tape Deck Is The Highlight, How Bad Was The Low?

The Story Of Finnegan’s Box Truck Continues! When A Working Tape Deck Is The Highlight, How Bad Was The Low?

If you didn’t catch the first part of the story of this rather expansive square-body monster that Finnegan bought for himself, you need to check that out first. Trust us, you want and need the backstory before you start the second part of the trip that, regardless of what our ever-optimistic friend says, was delivered straight from Hell on a silver platter. He purchased the truck more-or-less on the spot after flying to Cincinnati, Ohio. He drove it around the block and determined that it was a ver solid, well-aged example of an R/V series truck (that’s the 1988-1991 square-body designation, if you did not know). He paid the man, packed up his things, and hit the road…and a few miles later, the road hit back hard.

Well, that was only the beginning. It isn’t a Roadkill episode, but damn if the luck didn’t follow Mike back to Georgia. We’re talking the entire fuel system, shot. We’re talking the battery taking a dump on them on the side of the road. We’re talking about praying to every known deity that just might happen to be listening, bargaining away just about anything, so long as the GMC makes it to the gas pump once the engine starts the death rattle of fuel starvation. And then there is the odd fascination with the tape deck…on their way to London, Kentucky, Mike sent out a request for cassette tapes. He got his tapes…but it took more than a minute to get to London. Click play below to see why…I’m not going to spoil every last detail for you!
