For one reason or another we were feeling kind of down the other day and when that happens we go searching for fun stuff to watch to cheer us up. We also go poking around eBay. That’s where we found something called a Morooka rubber tracked dump truck and instantly we were happy. Build from scratch right here in the USA, these are machines we had never seen before and they are brilliant.
They are pretty good sized dump trucks but there are also carrier models, we have seen them with cement mixers on them, etc. Used for tough terrain and job sites, we can only imagine how invaluable these become with the going gets too rough for traditional trucks or there isn’t enough room to maneuver a big dump truck around.
They are a neat combo of Caterpillar parts like the engine and parts of the cab, custom made stuff by the people in the factory, and good ol’ American ingenuity. Being kind of dorky for stuff like this we’re surprised that we had never seen or heard about the machines before.
The video below shows us the process of building a Morooka from scratch, starting with the construction of the frame by talented welders and fabricators. This is not a robot process. This is skilled manufacturing by people who have perfected their trades. It’s a beautiful thing to watch and it cheered us up!
