This was all a happy accident. Shane Tecklenburg was at the NHRA Gatornationals to tune on a customer’s car in the Constant Aviation Factory Stock Showdown. For one reason or another that car was not in the mix of competition when the racing began so he got an invite to hang out with Scott Palmer’s top fuel team for Saturday and Sunday. The result is one of the most awesome videos we have ever seen that breaks down the tuning of a top fuel dragster. Tecklenburg is one of the world’s foremost EFI tuners. He has worked on just about every continent, on cars ranging from vintage F1 to insane drag racing machines, and he knows engines. He knows them very well.
What’s so great about this is that Shane applies his knowledge of the stuff he does with engines and really breaks down the top fuel scene in a way we have never heard anyone else do. This is not just looking at some charts and graphs, it is really in-depth and totally awesome. When you hear what an EFI system would need to deliver the fuel volumes that this engine is using it will blow your mind. There’s a load of really great tech in here and at the end he has some “fun facts” which are also really cool.
