(Photos by Bob Chiluk) – If there is one section of the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals that has raised more eyebrows, garnered more hubbub, and caused more swooning among fans of rare and cool cars than the Barn Finds area, we’re not aware of it. Ryan Brutt who can be regularly read on the pages of Hot Rod Magazine and is known by many as the “Automotive Archeologist” is one of the driving forces for this gathering of the rare, cool, dusty, and astounding that people freak out about year after year.
From factory supercharged Studebakers, to a Buick GS that is a complete muscle car time warp, to old race cars, and trucks, this is truly a gathering of automotive history that’s been frozen in time. We have all “parked” a car at one time or another and weeks became months which became years and all of a sudden that thing you parked was no longer in the condition it was in when it last cruised the highways. That is pretty much the story on all of these cars and trucks. Some have seemingly fared better than others but all are essentially rolling mummies that have been unearthed for the world to see.
The “barn find” hysteria of the last 10 years (or more) may be long in the tooth, but looking at awesome stuff never will be. This is a lot of awesome stuff.
One of the stupidest “Fads” of all time. As if the dirt dust and general crud add anything to them.
