Nobody Is Slowing Down! Bonneville Speed Week 2016 Photo Coverage Continues

Overcast skies and moderate temperatures were a welcome change for competitors at Bonneville Speed Week 2016 on Monday, and everyone was lined up early to see what kind of number they could lay down under the good conditions. For those that didn’t make runs before 11, the heat came back and had everyone reaching for ice cream, snow cones, and cold beverages, including ourselves. Rising winds in the early evening halted racing about an hour and a half early, but that didn’t mean there weren’t plenty of cars in the lanes and going down the track. We saw big speeds, close calls, and a lot of records. George Poteet is currently the man on top though, with an average speed of 429 through mile 5 with an exit speed of 442. That’s hauling ass, I don’t care who you are!

But even though George ran the big giant number, the Carbonite streamliner is the car that EVERYONE is talking about. This thing is different, cool, and fast as hell. This car is in full shakedown mode and still knocking on the 400 mile per hour door.

Check out some of what we saw today, and remember we still have several days of racing left!
