Pittsburgh World Of Wheels Coverage: A First Blast Of BangShifty Iron – Cool Stuff!

(Words and photos by Mike Brooks) – One of the best ways to shake the winter blues is spending time at gearhead gatherings like the the 55th annual Pittsburgh World of Wheels show. I made my annual pilgrimage to the steel city to get my fill of classic chrome and modern muscle, and I was not disappointed. I was able to check out some of my favorite rides that have appeared at the show before, some historical vintage race cars, take a peek at the huge drag race scene surrounding the Pittsburgh area, as well as see some new builds debuting for 2016.

I have to admit, it’s usually hard for me to pick a favorite out of all the awesome iron on display when I go to shows. Not this time,.. I spotted a slick little Troy Trepanier built Plymouth Belvedere. At first glance, it looked like a beautifully resto-modded Hemi equipped cruiser. A second look reveals some slicks, a cage, a hitch mounted chute, and a couple turbos hidden under the trunk pan. I nearly fainted as the blood rapidly flowed from my head to my nether regions. This car is badass! I can’t wait to see what this thing is capable off when the snow melts.
The car scene in the Pittsburgh area never seems to let me down. I really enjoy checking out what all the local shops, racers, and builders have to contribute to the hobby. There is tons of talent here and it shows. I’ve been coming to this show for many years and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
