Donut Derelicts Coverage: More Great Photos From An Early Saturday In Huntington Beach, California

Just like the Petersen Automotive Museum photos, I’m back with another batch from Donut Derelicts in Huntington Beach, California. You know what the place is about and I knew what the place was about but having never been there, it was cool to finally experience. The first thing I noticed when we got there? How quiet it was! Sounds lame but when is the last time you went to a gathering of cool stuff in a parking lot that did not include someone playing music (usually horrible). With no music, there was the occasional sound of a car being fired up and driven off and just the general din of lots of gearheads talking shop and bench racing.

One of the coolest little scenes we happened upon was actually happening in the donut shop. When we popped in to grab one of the ridiculously fresh and awesome donuts (mine may have had bacon on it) there was some older gents around a table slugging back coffee and telling stories. As it turns our a couple of them were retired police officers and they had some great stories about the old days of cars and hot rodding in California that were making us smile as we waited for our stuff.

Like the Petersen, this is MUST DO stuff for any gearhead!
