(Photos: Zane McNary) With the situation at the Bonneville Salt Flats becoming more and more questionable, El Mirage is looking more and more stable for land speed racing fans and competitors. With six miles of dry lakebed to play on available, those who are looking to see just how far they can push the envelope can make their way out to the Mojave Desert to make their runs and get their speeds in. The expansive length of the lake bed and the wide open, clear sky don’t replace Bonneville’s iconic salt flats nor the history made there, but simply add another chapter to the story of those whose only desire is to push the limits.
