1,800 Horsepower, Twin Engine Volkswagen Lupo. Total Insanity Has Been Achieved!

1,800 Horsepower, Twin Engine Volkswagen Lupo. Total Insanity Has Been Achieved!

The twin-engine car thing has been picking up steam a little bit. Used to be that if it had two engines inside, you were looking at an unadulterated, one of a kind freakshow. Today, I can name off a few of them that are recent builds, including the Pontiac Grand Prix that was put together in Canada by Turbo Dynamics and the twin-LS powered “Twinpala” Chevy Impala SS that Tony Angelo has been busting his ass on…and that we hope is entering the burnout pit at LS Fest East in a couple of days. But this little bastard…this is a Volkswagen Lupo. New, you were lucky if you had over 100 horsepower at your disposal, you had a 0-62 MPH time that could be measured by a shadow’s length, and the only positive thing to say was that it was easy to park anywhere in the city.

In Italian, “lupo” translates as “wolf”…and while the standard city car does not qualify by any stretch of the imagination, this freak of nature certainly fits the bill. This is a remote-controlled car come to life, with turbo noises and a severe grip issue that was only combatted when the two 2.0L four-bangers, which are perfectly capable of 900 horsepower each, were de-tuned to a more managable 600 horsepower. That’s the kind of performance that is explained with expletives, very colorful ones.

Looks like on engine’s pulling and one engine’s pushing – but I suppose a Pro Mod motor wouldn’t fit!

What was this guy and his buddies, drinking, when they came up with this?

It’s insane, bonkers, looks like it was drawn by a someone, embracing their inner 5 years old….

AND I WANT TO DRIVE IT SO BAD!!!!!!!

Like the total FREAK SHOW vibe, has the same problems the 4wd funny cars had, front tires spinnin’,back tires pushin’, no control. Like it’s crazy look too.
