Yeah, this is pretty much perfect on every level. It’s a car that is beautiful to look at, is not come cookie cutter bodystyle, has a unique and awesome drivetrain, and it can run 10.0s at the drag strip. What the heck more can you ask for?! This is not one of those “what if” style cars that asks a period question.
Obviously we’re mixing generations here. The engine is about 20 years newer than the body and chassis but how magically perfect is the combo?! We have seen GN engines in everything from Mustangs to A-body Mopars over the years and we have seen plenty of 1980s G-body GN power swaps but this is a new one on us and the car has been around for a long time, having been featured in Car Craft several years ago.
The engine is not stock. It has been upgraded through and through. A larger turbocharger is attached to said engine and that is why this sleeper can run 10.0s and look like a mildly hot rodded 1965 Buick Skylark. No one would ever see this thing coming at the strip. And yes, a 10.0 run with a car that has no cage would likely insure a visit from the tech department shortly after the run was made but what fun!
We love the color, we love the inner headlights being removed for a more race ready look, and we love the tasteful upgrades to the interior. We just need about 50-large. Anyone?
