(Photos by Mike Brooks) – I mentioned my own personal history with the Gasser Reunion event that’s been happening at Ohio’s Thompson Dragway for about 15 years now yesterday. The event really does draw fun cars and people from all over the country to the history little track. Some of the gassers are not exactly period perfect pieces but we like the fact that the race still has so much enthusiasm and passion behind it. We also love the fact that the event happens at the right venue.

We think venues are super important for these kind of races. The March Meet would not be the same at Pomona, the Holley Hot Rod Reunion would not be nearly as cool at Bristol, and this race would be swallowed up in a huge place like Norwalk. There’s nothing wrong with those tracks but they don’t have the squashed into the fence intimate feel of a Thompson. Have been to all of the above mentioned places I say that with confidence!
