2017 NHRA Dutch Classic Coverage: One Final Big Blast Of Super Stock Action At Maple Grove

2017 NHRA Dutch Classic Coverage: One Final Big Blast Of Super Stock Action At Maple Grove

(Photos by Joe Grippo) – We have come to the end of the treasure trove of super stock photos that Joe Grippo sent us from the 2017 NHRA Dutch Classic at Maple Grove Raceway. As I write this the BangShift eastern world HQ is covered in snow and it is right about freezing outside. We’re a long way away it seems from starting up this whole drag racing thing again in the northern parts of the country but as they say the darkest light is just before dawn and it’ll be no time until the engines are freshened, the new slicks are bolted up, and the wheelies begin for a new season of action in 2018. It still sucks, though. That’s a fact.

Enjoy this last group of Joe Grippo super stock photos from the race affectionately known as “The Dutch” in our part of the world. The big names were all there and they were all giving it 120% in order to win the deal and join the hal of legends that have claimed victory at one of the most enduring NHRA sportsman drag races in the country.

Man, I forgot how nice that Granada Gold looked in ’67. That deuce is awesome, along with the black FE Mustang. Nice. Once again, Grippo has it going on.

Man the Carpetbagger Nomad has been racing a LONNNGGG time. Started out red color at Dover Drag Strip way back the first time I saw it in 1964 (don’t know when it made it’s first passes) and has been raced continuously since then.

Was a fixture at Lebanon Valley and always did good.
