Accelaquarter Raceway In Ilinois Is Currently Underwater – Drag Boats To The Lanes?

Accelaquarter Raceway In Ilinois Is Currently Underwater – Drag Boats To The Lanes?

Accelaquarter Raceway, an eighth mile strip in Illinois which was completely revamped in 2013 is currently underwater as shown in the photos below. The images were taken by track staff and posted to the Accelaquarter Facebook page this morning. It stinks to see this and we hope that there is no permanent damage as there was a significant investment made by the new track ownership in 2013 that included everything from repairing the racing surface, walls, the pits, the tower, etc. Basically the place got a make over both cosmetically and its “bones” got spruced up as well. Racers who were able to hit the track for a couple months in 2013 after the work was done were very positive about the track’s new look and newfound respectability.

Here’s to hoping the flood waters abate quickly and don’t leave too much work for the staff and ownership to fix up. Photos like this always strike us as surreal.
