9,000 RPM FE Big Block | 1964 427 Thunderbolt 4-Speed Super Stocker – Secrets Explained

You know that Stock and Super Stock NHRA drag cars are some of our favorite things around here, and when you watch this video about Kurt Neighbor and his awesome Ford you’ll understand why. This 427 high-riser FE makes over 950 horsepower in Super Stock trim, and with a 4-speed, runs mid 8’s in the quarter. I know there are quicker and faster cars, but remember that this is a naturally aspirated engine with factory heads that have only been ported. It also runs the factory carburetor that would have come on this car. Yeah, it’s impressive as hell when you consider the limiting factors. Clearly, they have gotten it right on this one though!

You’ll get a lot of specs and info on how this class works in this video.

Thanks to REVan Evan for this great video.
