Race cars are under an insane amount of stress. But when those race cars have bodies made of carbon fiber or fiberglass, they tend to take an even greater hit. Tire shake, sheelstands, and just the shock of leaving the starting line are huge stressors to drag car bodies. Road racing has a whole different set of stressors. Regardless, time and miles and runs will result in stress cracks and fractures at times and this is just part of the wear and tear that comes with racing. Ad in engine explosions, the occasion crash, or what have you and there are going to be plenty of times you need to repair a composite body panel.
