The Bonneville Salt Flats have been challenging the smartest, bravest, and most innovative hot rodders the world has to offer for more than 100 year now. Since the initial speed runs were made on the surface back in 1914 to the formation of Speed Week in the late 1940s, the place has been part and parcel of the world motorsports landscape. This year was no different.
Although the number of competitors and spectators was reduced by the gnawing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the cars and the people who were there took advantage. We have told you about the exploits of the Speed Demon team, inching their way to 500 piston powered miles per hour while devouring records along the way and they were not the only team to have success. You should check the SCTA-BNI website for full results and to see who the new record holders are.
We have more fresh photos for you below. These were taken Sunday morning and show some of the diversity of equipment that was present this year.
Here’s to hoping that in 2021 we’re all back there on the salt at full strength again!
