You can keep your Chargers, ‘Cudas, and other “glory” style hemi Mopars because this is the one WE want. The unrestored, plain-Jane looking, boxy cool 1966 Plymouth Satellite. This thing is absolutely awesome and it stands as one of those cars that we wish we could have been at the table watching the first buyer spec it out at the dealer. Whoever checked the boxes the first time they did it right. Dual quad hemi, 18-spline four speed, 3.54 axle, buckets, upgraded stereo, this dude had it together! With only 23,000 original miles, this car is completely unrestored and we’re actually surprised that the “buy it now” price is just a shade under $75,000. Maybe we have been pummeled with such monetary stupidity over the last couple days at Barrett Jackson that we’re desensitized but it seems like a damned good buy at that price.
The thing we dig most about this is that driving this car as it is today would provide the 100% authentic experience that a hemi buyer would have had in ’66. Nothing has been messed with or modified, nothing has been altered, no wheel tubs, no blower, no nothing. It is a literal time machine and with only 23,000 miles in nearly 50 years, it is barely broken in. Pretty amazing to think about the level of care that this car has had over the last half century to be sitting in front of you in this condition, right?

If you look at anything collectible, the older it gets, the more it means to be a nice, unrestored example. In the years to come, the most highly sought after 60’s and early 70’s musclecars will be NICE unrestored examples. They are only original once.

That is sweet!
Tight pants syndrome strikes again.
Anybody need to buy a kidney? Left testicle? First born?
This is awesome on so many levels. For me its great because my father had this exact car. Same year, color, and options. In fact, my mother raced it once at NED the summer she was pregnant with me. Not knowing then what he had, my father stripped it down, put a cage in it and made it a race car. Even worse, the car got parted out when he was done with it with the body shell going to the junkyard.
Oh man.
It’s so clean and basic looking, it’s definitely a muscle car thoroughbred.
To be correct, it should have Blue Streak tires, not Red Streaks. All Hemi cars in 1966 got the Blue Streak tires. Also, all Chrysler Master Cylinders were painted Gloss Black.
It says in the article that they came with blue streaks but since theyre no longer produced they put reds to keep the theme at least.
Problem is that this has the odour of a curber written all over it. Nothing bothers me more than standard curber wording in an advert as it stands out like twenty foot high letters. Anyone care to guess how long it’s been in the possession of the person selling it?
$75K is not a bad asking price for this car. You could probably drive away in it for $68K.
The big money for Hemi cars is for cars like Cudas or Challengers. The 1966/67 Hemi cars are usually 50% lower than the 1970/1971 cars.
Mmm, it’s even in Q dark red! That would match what’s left of my ’67 440 Charger that’s rotting away in the garage.
