Frriday BOOM: A Massive Nitrous Explosion With Bonus Aftermath Footage Of The ‘Sploded Intake Manifold

Normally with nitrous explosion videos, there’s no real idea of what happens after the big BOOM. That’s not the case with this video, shot at North Carolina’s Outer Banks Raceway. In it, you’ll see a full on, nitrous-fed, “no time” car that spits the bit after the burnout when the driver seems to be getting ready to clear the motor out.

The reaction of this track staff and crew was text book and as such, the fire was killed off quickly and the results looked to be that any damage the car sustained was limited to the front end of the machine and despite looking bad, was certainly not as bad as it could have been.

After the explosion the crew moved deftly around the car to kill the power and another guy jams his head in the car to make sure the driver didn’t miss any kill switches or whatnot. The dudes with extinguisers get on it and without a fuel pump feeding or a bottle dumping nitrous at it, the fire is squelched fast.

Watch the whole video because there are some neat close ups of what’s left of the intake manifold, you can clearly see the split Dominator style carbs, and we found the crew’s approach to inspecting the car right in the staging lanes interesting for a “no time” group. That’s usually secret city, but I guess once you blow your stuff up like that, you aren’t as concerned.

All these nitrous explosions and idiots still pump it into their engines. I don’t feel sorry for them at all.
    Bottles are for babies.

I believe that what burst panels are for. He either didn’t have any or not enough.
