Check Out The Final Race For Nostalgia Muscle Car At The NMCA Bluegrass Nationals – Too Close!

After days of downpours that varied between a gentle shower and the kind of rain that would have Noah running around yelling, “I told you so!”, the NMCA Bluegrass Nationals finally got a break in the weather and that meant that racers, who have been dealing with the weather and cabin fever, finally got to let it all hang out on the track. The temperatures were decent and the crews had Beech Bend Raceway ready to go. And go it did.

This is the Detroit TruTrac Nostalgia Muscle Car final between Andy Warren’s 1971 Chevrolet Caprice and Jerry Stamps’ 1973 Plymouth Duster. Warren is always a force to be reckoned with, but Stamps isn’t a pushover one bit. With Warren dialed in at 10.00 and Stamps at 12.00, this is an index run that looked too close to call…until the scoreboard showed just how close things really were! Check out NMCA’s video of the final run below:

Why didn’t you say who won. That’s part of the story. You shouldn’t make the reader rewind the video to see the light at the top of the scoreboard come on.

lol…. I don’t know what to say to that, but just laugh,… you really are gonna complain about that? I don’t know how many races I’ve been in when I’m through the traps gettin’ on the brakes and searching for the little win light on the wall wondering if I’m going another round or going home, and missing them cause well, i’m trying to get my car stopped… and having to wait until I make it to the timeslip booth to check my numbers to find out. Then it’s either a resounding YES! or a string of curses until I get back to my pit. But I never complained about it, and I was IN the car.

That was an awesome race thanks for sharing! But one thing you did leave out (not complainin’, just sayin’… haha), were their just as close RT’s, Stamps cut an .046 and Warren an .048. Cool to see that big B-Body goin’ 10 flat! Anyone can go quick in a little car, but takes some serious work to go quick in a big boat. Congrats for a great race to both competitors.
