King Rat: Chevrolet Performance Debuts The 1,000hp Naturally Aspirated ZZ632

This is nasty! Chevrolet Performance debuts the 1,000hp naturally aspirated ZZ632 ahead of the 2021 SEMA show! When the world went gaga over the 1,000hp blown Hellepahnt engine Mopar dropped a couple of years back, people kind of assumed that it would reign as the king of the factory crate engines. Wrong. Chevrolet was apparently inspired to match that horsepower mark but decided to do it the old fashioned way. Using some really trick parts, this 632ci beast makes the same power as the Hellephant without any help from power adders.

Using mild compression and camshaft specs, this engine makes the power on 93-octane fuel and at a reasonable 6,600 RPM. The trick? Those spread port, symmetrical cylinder heads. We’re guessing that those will someday be offered off the shelf as their own parts, but dang this thing is nasty!

Fuel injection, coil near plug ignition, the high rise single plane intake manifold, a forged 4340 crank, titanium valves, and more, this is a competition engine from the factory.

Now, many of you drag racers out there may chortle at a 632 that makes “only” 1,000hp but when you consider it does not have massive compression and makes the power at relatively low RPM you can see why it’s impressive to us. So what would this be good for? Anything, if you ask us! Chevrolet is marketing it as a competition only engine but it sure seems like it would be more flexible than that depending on the application.

Check out the specs below!

  1. Tw

You can keep the Porsche and his narrow powerband . Btw rc engines make great hp per liter too , are they better ?

    1. Pooper

Please, 100hp per liter is 1960’s technology, Chevy should be embarrassed. Comparisons to nitro powered engines is meaningless.
