I am writing this while sitting in the Atlanta airport on my way home from the 2014 Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals. The race has not been completed as of yet because of a truly extraordinary series of events that befell racers, the facility, and seemingly everyone who came within a five mile radius of the drag strip this past weekend. Final rounds in all of the professional categories are going to be contested today as well as sportsman racing to boot. There was rain, wreckage, cold temps, oil, and about the only thing we were missing were a couple of the biblical plagues to complete a weekend that even the most grizzled racers in the NHRA ranks were shaking their heads at. References to the “Bermuda Triangle”, Bobby Brady’s cursed Tiki God, and whatever other bad luck charm you can think of were bandied about between everyone from the front gate staff to top fuel drivers. It was one of those wild and wooly weekends none of us will ever forget. To win this race today would be a career highlight for anyone on the sheer principle that they survived until the end.

The NHRA media department was on the stick this weekend posting all the wreckage and craziness throughout the event and we were posting as quickly as we could after they did. Since it is all spread out all over the blog we didn’t want to have you have to hunt for it. To fix that, we’re going to put all the videos right here in one place for your viewing pleasure. You can thank us later…after you climb out from under your desk and the parts have stopped raining from the sky.
