Dutch Classic Stock Eliminator Action: Wheels Up Detroit Iron At Maple Grove

(Photos by Joe Grippo) – I loves me some stock eliminator action. Stockers are the great lead off act at each and every NHRA national event and the are a huge part of the Lucas Oil Drag Racing series schedule that snakes around the country and within every division across the nation as well. The last big NHRA sanctioned race in the Northeast is the Dutch Classic a “National Open” event which means that it is like a divisional race minus the alcohol cars. Being that this is 100% about sportsman racing you can understand why hundreds and hundreds of cars from around the region pack Maple Grove year after year.

The other day we told you about the hemi shootout and all the fun that was. Today we’re back with more Grippo photos and these concentrate on stockers, the most highly regulated of the sportsman classes. We could go on for days about the rules in stock but suffice it to say that these are real cars that have been tweaked and tuned within a inch of their lives and they run. Stuff that from the factory went 18s now goes 12s with virtually the same parts.

The cars range from Detroit icons to modern muscle and everything in between. Check out Joe’s photos below, you’ll love ’em!
