Ever Consider Building Your Own Headers? Build Your Own Zoomie Headers for Increased Power and On-Track Performance!

Building headers is not easy. I mean it’s not the hardest thing in the world on some applications, and race cars are often easier than street cars with inner fenders and fat factory frame rails, but building a set of headers is not a project I’d recommend starting off with if you are just getting into metal fabrication. With that said, if I was telling someone to build a set, I might recommend zoomies to start.

It sounds funny to say that zoomies might be the easier headers to build, but in the grand scheme of things they are for the typical applications you’d find them in, like a No Prep car or Pro Mod. There are very few bends, and they are all going to exit together in a line, instead of having to wrap around each other to create a collector like a standard header would have.

But just because it is one of the simpler headers to build, doesn’t mean they aren’t without their challenges, which is why we’re sharing this video from our dude Tim McAmis. He’s a veteran in high horsepower car building and has shared more tech tips in the last few years on his YouTube channel than we can list. So watch the video, learn some stuff, and let us know what you think.

Video Description:

Not only do headers play an important role in engine performance, they can be used to enhance your chassis set-up as well.

Zoomie Headers are commonplace in high horsepower drag racing applications due to their enormous rate of flow and lack of back pressure.

In this video, Tim explains how you can build your own set of Stainless Steel Zoomie Headers with HUGE 2-1/2” primaries and also touches on various layouts and configurations that can advance your on-track performance.
