Once a year, Melton compiles the most insane snippets from all that work and creates Carnage Fest. The 2016 edition of this madness is below and it may be the craziest one yet.
The explosion of grudge racing, no-prep racing, radial racing, and the spectrum of pro mod competition that is happening these days provides one heck of a smorgasbord for Melton to work with over the course of the season. 10 years ago we’re guessing it was easier for a guy like Sean to choose what events he wanted to hit with the expectation of getting great footage. Now? Now there are so many options and so many cool things happening in so many places, the guy has to pick his spots wisely.
We’ve got to thank the Urban Hillbilly crew for their work to bring drag racing to the masses and not just the mainstream stuff. One of the reasons the sport is so healthy in 2016 is because of the fact that people see lots more of it than they ever did. The simple fact is that no-prep and grudge racing have blown up so hard because of social media and the craziness that people know they are going to see at the races along with the bad ass cars. It is to drag racing what punk was to rock and roll. A movement that managed to come from the shadows and change everything.
