(Photos by Charles Wickam) – One of the big complaints about “modern” drag racing is that the cars have lost lots of personality because no one gives them names anymore. From the professional to the sportsman ranks, what was once a common practice has become exceedingly rare. That can’t be said for what we’re seeing in Bowling Green this weekend at the Holley National Hot Rod Reunion. Why? Because there are cool names bounding off the sides of many, many cars here. Some are funny, some make you think about them for a second before they’re understood, but they all show the creativity and coolness of the racers here.
This collection of 23 photos has some names you have surely heard before but lots you probably haven’t. We think names on drag cars go together like beer and chocolate brownies, so this is right up our alley and we suspect yours too.
