NHRA Insider Podcast: Jason Line Talks Engine Building, Don O’Neal Talks Top Sportsman With A Factory Stock Showdown Engine

A couple of good dudes joined me on the NHRA Insider podcast recently and we had some wide ranging conversations covering everything from engine building to how one takes a factory stock showdown engine, plugs it in a pro stock car, and goes Top Sportsman racing with it.

Jason Line is retiring from driving pro stock cars at the end of this year. He is going to continue on as an engine builder and major piece of the puzzle at KB Racing in North Carolina but more time at home with his family is definitely on order for Line who is a multi-time champ in the category and a dude who is as hardcore a racer as you will ever find. His true passion is engine building and that’s what we talk about. Hie favorite builds, his dream builds, his philosophy, how he wrung 600hp out of a stock eliminator legal Buick 455 and more. Truly a smart, funny, and altogether good dude, you’ll like his conversation with Jason if you are into engines.

Next up it is Don O’Neal, a well known racer in NHRA’s Vortech Supercharger Top Sportsman category, O’Neal’s car is awesome because it is a legit Factory Stock Showdown engine in an old pro stock chassis. He literally answered the question everyone was asking about how fast that combo would be. So far? Mid 6-second laps are the order of the from the Whipple blown LS Camaro.
