NHRA Insider Podcast: A Championship Resurgence – Lohnes Talks To Shawn Langdon and Erica Enders About St Louis Success

Two interesting winners from St Louis join Lohnes on the NHRA Insider Podcast this week. Shawn Langdon had a wild Sunday and Erica Enders finally broke through some vicious bad luck which had plagued her since Seattle. The whole event was awesome and it followed in the same vein as the Maple Grove event which started the NHRA Playoffs. There were upsets and some really wild first and second round defeats for major players. The Torrence team came roaring back into the fore with their dueling final round appearance in top fuel, and some of the biggest names in drag racing slipped further back in the standings and have truly put themselves in jeopardy of being irrelevant with just four races left in the 2019 season.

The highlights here include an amazingly detailed description from Shawn Langdon pedaling to a win in the second round about Jim Campbell, his analysis of fellow competitors that he races against, and the level of strategic thought that goes into every round of competition in the world of NHRA drag racing.

Erica Enders has had one of the finest cars in pro stock since the Seattle race where engine bearing issues cost her a semi-final victory against Greg Anderson. She proceeded to runner up in Brainerd, lost a heartbreaker in Indy, and then went out too early at Maple Grove. Her attitude of perseverance and her mental strength along with the team around her carried her through. Her recounting of raceday in St Louis is spectacular and telling.

Real hot truth from two great racers and two competitors who believe that they are back in the conversation for world championships…which they’ve both won before.
