If you aren’t familiar with the street freaks that roamed Southern California in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s then you are missing out! These hot rods and muscle cars took cues from the gassers that tore up dragstrips, and made them even more extreme. They had a certain cartoon aspect to them, and with their popularity on Van Nuys Blvd it wasn’t hard to imagine that the nearby Hollywood world didn’t have something to do with it. If you wanted to make a statement in those parts, you had to step up your game. In the video below, Newbern and the guys are going to make this 1957 Chevy into a street freak in its own right. This thing is going to be rad!
Video Description:
Welcome to Newbern’s Garage! In this episode, we’re throwing it way back as we transform a 1957 Chevy into a wild, retro-inspired street freak! Using nothing but parts we had lying around, we bolt together a beast that’s as gritty as it is glorious. It’s raw. It’s loud. It’s old-school hot-rodding at its best. You won’t believe what this ’57 turns into — and we’re just getting started.
