Nitro Video: The First Ever Nitro Outlaw Drag Racing Association Race – Big Show Cars, More Reasonable Budget

Here’s some neat stuff to watch during a mid-week racing lull. What you are about to see is the first race of the new Outlaw Nitro Drag Racing Association which happened at few weeks back in Arizona. These guys are running with a diesel drag racing organization as they start the program out and we think they have a neat idea on their hands. Basically you are going to see racers like Cory Mac, Dexter Tuttle, Bill Litton, Jack Wyatt, and other recognized names competing in cars that look like, sound like, and hammer like “big show” NHRA cars.

These guys have designed a program where the engines are drinking about 80% nitro, they can run 300mph, and the race format does not require teams to make a zillion runs a weekend to compete. The idea is simple. Bring an awesome experience to fans without the necessary budget to run the NHRA tour. Sounds legit to us, what do you think?

There’s some stuff we’d change in the presentation of this video as it’s pretty long but it is a way to get to meet the drivers and the people behind the scenes at the series. In the future we’re guessing they’ll chop down these episodes but for this opener, we see everything.

We’ll be paying attention to this program in 2018 and hope that it flourishes, giving people a great place to race and giving fans the shot to see modern fuel cars in a fun setting. Here’s the opener of the Nitro Outlaw Drag Racing Association!

Glad to see something like this .IHRA no longer has the fuel classes. And we all know NHRA is all about big money sponsor, not for the little guys.Hope to see this get a lot bigger. And I think its a good mix to have it with the black smoke guys .I will see if it comes near me,I will go watch

Like David, I hope this takes off.

Get the motors down to 1 distrubutor and limit the fuel flow would be even better at reducing the costs / speeds.

If they can run a full 1/4 mile in 5-6 seconds and not blow up motors all the time…….that would be a serious attraction to alot of spectators and racers.

If they bring in Pro Mod there will be huge potential for BIG things. Pro Mod has a large population of cars

I was at this show. Cory Mac was the only one who made 2 good passes. The funny cars didn’t even make it to the 1/8 mile. Just wasn’t a good show. I really hope they improve in the future, as this could be a good nitro show. I did not expect any Big Show type runs, just wanted to see them run 1000′ without breaking.

COST, COST, COST! Rules must be on place to lower cost! IMHO I would rather see 4-5 second nitro cars than 3 seconds. I get to see more. Slow \’em down. Any engine combination with one mag and fuel restrictions. Maybe even a compression ratio limit like Dale Armstrong wanted.
