No Prep? No Problem! Watch Andy Reynolds Put His Malibu Wagon On The Bumper At Ozark Raceway Park

Many BangShifters out there may be familiar with Andy Reynolds and his awesome red Malibu station wagon. Andy has done drag week with the car, races the wheels off of it, and has a reputation of not only being fast but also of pulling some of the most massive wheelies you have ever seen in your life. The best part? There ain’t a bar anywhere near this thing. During drag week 2014, we reveled at Reynolds’ ability to hike the front end and that was on tracks that had been decently prepped for us before we got there. Take into consideration that when Urban Hillbilly Action Video shot this footage at Ozark Raceway Park last weekend it was during a no prep event!

It would be one thing to see Reynolds pull this awesome wheelie and get eliminated by the Malibu in the other lane but the fun part of this story is that he is NOT eliminated and in fact beats the guy even though he is literally dragging the bumper for most of the run.

No prep racing, especially when it is done on a small tire is all about managing the power. Unless you are racing in a parking lot, the track will be able to hold onto something, it is just determining what that “something” is. In this case for Reynolds, he dead hooked his drag radials and up the front end went. Because of his experience with wheelies which happen on lots of the runs he makes, he is able to control this one like a master. Less experienced drivers often chop the throttle and end up mashing the front end. Not Reynolds. A little fancy throttle work and he set it down, driving it for the win.

This guy rules!

It’s almost as if he was either expecting the wheelie – but I wonder if the slightly angled launch had something to do with it as he must have had to straighten the car up. Awesome in the extreme and it would have been even better if it was that cool Fox-body Mustang/station wagon combo we saw earlier in the week…
