When you combine a former top fuel car, a Legends mini-stock car body, a big block and THREE superchargers, this is what you get and we’re not sure exactly what “this” is but it sure bears taking a look at and deciding yourself. We stumbled upon this video quite literally by accident while searching up stuff on YouTube. The video is a walk around of the unique machine that was constructed by the owner as a “Thursday night car” to be run at the open test and tune nights at his local strip. We give the owner of the car credit because he is straight up in his assessment of the machine and is not running around talking like he has a top fuel dragster in his hands. The car is still vintage top fuel from the driver’s area forward. It has been back halved at one point in its life.
The engine is a big block Chevy with what looks like an 8 or 10-71 huffer on it that has a pair of small B&M blowers on their own manifold bolted to that supercharger. On top of the second set of blowers are a pair of carbs that are feeding the thing and a sort of bug catcher hat to direct air into their mouths. The owner claims that it is making about 16lbs of boost or so. The narrator’s response is to that is interesting to say the least.
The car does run and drive and you’ll see it shooting some cool header flames at the start of this video as some footage was apparently taken in the dark. It is kind of sad to see an old top fuel car with history butchered up into something like this but then again, it would be sadder if the same car were literally sitting and rotting in a barn down the road, too. We’ll comfort ourselves by claiming it was not a world championship car. At least we hope so.
Now it is your turn. You need to watch this video and then tell us what you think about the car!
Please stop the multiple supercharger madness. Cool uo to that point
Just a guy having fun with his stuff. I have seen the Camaro, and it is crazy, but the guy likes his boost, what can you do. He does quality work, you can’t deny that.
That guy builds some wild stuff. We got to see that, his silver truck, and the Camaro at the Syracuse nats last summer…
There’s something about a blown big block Chevy at idle that sounds like it has COPD that puts a smile on anybody’s face.
